Our clients ran a successful farm business which included a range of farm-diversification aspects including cafe, farm shop etc. They were keen to create a complementary use which would help to generate further income both during winter but also on weekdays, as the existing income was primarily in the summer months and at weekends.
Our clients identified a suitable existing barn that was underutilised, but had been successfully, from their perspective, previously used temporarily and without planning consent for children’s parties.
Located in open countryside, in an unsustainable location balancing the issues of a prosperous rural economy as contained within the NPPF with the issues of highways and traffic generation issues, we ultimately persuaded the local planning authority to grant planning consent.
