Overview

Historically the site comprised a substantial range of farm buildings which provided a long-established commercial and agricultural use on the site. The site had developed over time and although sited in open countryside had evolved into a large and successful agricultural machinery business.

The site comprised undulating agricultural land, a large detached commercial building, yard area, car parking, stables and ménage.

The original application, some years before sought approval for the erection of “Warehouse building” however the building was actually used for B1, B2 and B8 uses and formed the headquarters of this building along with the manufacturing of machinery.

Justifying the use in relation to the NPPF “Supporting a Prosperous rural economy” we highlighted that planning policy should support economic growth in rural areas by taking a positive approach to sustainable new development. The LPA agreed and planning consent was granted accordingly.
